CycleBetter.Com Administration

What's Going on At CycleBetter.Com?

You may have noticed some big changes around here lately.  We have a new look, a new version of our server software, and LOTS of new blogs being added every day. What’s going on, you may ask?

Lot’s O’ New Blogs

The biggest change around here is we’re finally getting serious about signing up new blogs.  We’ve been contacting great bloggers in different areas, like MTB, Road Racing, etc. and seeing if they want to cross-post content here.   We’ve had some really great bloggers accept, and we’re thrilled! Check out Confessions of a Manic Cyclist, Fatmarc - home of the spot brand whore, and Carl Buchanan - Mountain Bike Racer.. All three have been added this week!

Feed Categories

You may have also noticed that we’ve added feed categories.  This is going to allow you to subscribe to just the feeds you care about.. If you’re into MTB racing and riding, you can subscribe to our Mountain Biking feed, for example and you don’t have to skip through stuff you may not be as interested in   Currently we’re providing the following feeds:
Very soon, my humble hope is that we’ll become the place to subscribe to the best biking feeds in the world.

What’s the Goal of CycleBetter.Com?

Well, first let me tell you who I am.  I'm a long time cyclist and bike mechanic.  In my college years, I managed a small bike shop in Gainesville, FL called Recycled Bikes.  I've always been interested in all aspects of cycling. I'm now a software developer and in my spare time, play around with creating blog communities.  I've set up one very successful community at http://www.codebetter.com .  We have about 5,000 + subscriptions over at bloglines, and it's an active thriving community.

The key to its success has been providing multiple, focused blogs.  There's a synergy that happens when you get a bunch of like minded bloggers reading and blogging at the same place.  It can be quite fun..  It's also a nice way to provide one feed that people can subscribe to, and get a bunch of good blogs.

So, with CycleBetter, I'm attempting to do the same - create a thriving community around cycling.  You will see some ads on the site, which is a necessary evil I guess. Ultimately, I'd love to actually turn this in to a business of some sort, but for now, my immediate goal is to simply have it support itself, and pay for it's hosting.

Thanks for stopping by!

Brendan
