Went for a short 20ish mile ride with
Kerkove today to spin out the legs while he nurses his knee. Looks and sounds a bit painful but he shouldn't take too long to recover. We stuck to the GW trails and spun around at 17-18mph or so while passing all of the runners and their interesting styles. Have you ever seen a chicken running? Hmm. Not a lot of people out so it was easy to maintain pace and cruise around. Great day right now. Overcast, 50°F+, a little on the windy side but definately comfortable...for now. Should be raining later.
Kerkove did explain to me the four steps of winning a road race as per
JY. Apparently JY claims that this method is the easiest way to win road races so be sure to read
all of it.
Step one is to sit in towards the rear of the group and let everyone else make the pace and eventually blow themselves up. This allows you to retain your energy for when you really need it as well as size up the competition and decide which other riders will be going with you in step two.
Step two is to get a small group together and break away from the main group to seperate yourself from any chance of a large group sprint towards the end of the race. It is a sport of tactics and must be played very carefully. Once the smaller group has broken away successfully, you must increase the tempo above the other riders to wear them down for your own benefit. Do short pulls of high intensity to keep them all going hard.
Step three. Once the other riders in your small group, if any of them are left, are all on the edge of cracking, you need to throw down the gauntlet and unleash the gates of fiery upon them!! Ride as fast as the wind to eliminate any chance of a group sprint towards the end of the race.
Step four is the easy part. Celebrating. Throw your hands in the air and show them who you are!!!
?????? I do not think that this is a tactic of any sort, is it?
NOTE: JY never actually said any of this, Kerkove and I were just having some fun. JY could smoke me on the road by the way.
I have a new blog to report to you.
Jeremy Bidwell, personal friend, friend of the shop, Cannondale rider (Prophet 800 and Chase 4), and all around great guy to have around, has created his own blog to inform and amuse. His kids have mad skills too so watch out.
Busy, busy, busy at the shop so I will probably end up going in a little early today. Lots of new faces and they are buying super sweet bikes. Makes me happy. :)
