  • Trail work update

Casey and I drove up to Camp Ingawanis yesterday afternoon to mark out a couple more lengths of trail that will get taken care of on the 7th and 8th of October. One of the trails will connect the pine section with to the rest of the trails without cutting acrossed the field; yes that means more singletrack :) Another trail will be an advanced trail in a big way. Think sustained climb with gnarly turns and tricky descents. Makes me all giddy just thinkin…

  • Planning for the weekend

Friday Night Lights is this Friday at Pfieffer Park at 6pm. I will not be in attendance.

Saturday is the Blockhouse Roll XC race near Platteville, WI. Tough climbs, fast downhills, creek crossings, and burritos. What else could a person want? I will be there.

Sunday is still undecided at this point.

Fired up the Ducati last night and listened to the exhaust notes. It'…

  • More gravel - photo blog

We have definately hit the end of the racing season because I am finding myself riding more and more gravel. Last night was a group gravel ride to Camp Ingawanis to do a quick night lap and then grind home. Good group of riders showed up including a couple of roadies and a couple of riders that have very little night riding time. I have never ridden at Camp Ingawanis in the dark so I was pretty stokedd about this one.

  • Cuttin' wood

Yesterday was training day but not in the sense of riding a bike. Casey Dean and I volunteered to take a chainsaw certification class for the Winnebago Council so that we are allowed to use chainsaws on Camp Ingawanis property which will allow us more flexibility in clearing downed trees over the mountain bike trails. One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing where other riders have gone around a tree because it takes so long to get it removed. Lots of tim…

  • Friday Night Lights

So how do you spend your friday nights? Dinner and a movie? Hanging out with friends? High School football game?

Well a few of us decided to go for a three hour gavel grinder last night and it was quite a load of fun. Set out with eight riders at 6pm while heading west to Parkersburg. After about 10 miles of easy gravel a couple fo riders headed back since they had no lights and the remaining six headed on although we lost one more about th…

  • Chilly gravel

Met up with some of the locals yahoos for a little gravel grinding goodness instead of the group road ride. Group road rides are probably done for the season so gravel will be the choice for many of us. Tonights ride started out around 55°F and ended at 48°F 2.5 hours and 31 miles later. I kept warm by sporting all of my Cannondale chillier weather clothing including arm warmers, leg warmers, and of course my HealthNet cycling cap. Read Full Post Here

  • Randomness

Lots of little things going on right now but nothing real major...except for starting a "new" job tomorrow but it's really my "old" job so nothing to stress about. I am actually pretty excited about everything that is taking place concerning that.

Yesterday was fairly slow at the shop which gave me a lot of time to get some new pictures and information up on the store website. Lots of 2006 bicycles ar…

  • Shout out

I was just informed that today is Ron Saul's birthday. Ron's a local cyclist that rolls on a carbon road bike, full-supension mountain bike, sweet disc cyclo-cross bike, and even an old steel fixie. He's a hard core cyclist that is up for everything from the group road rides, long training rides, gravel grinders, and singletrack. Great all-arounder.

Happy Birthday Ron. This post is for you.

  • Two Nine

Many of you may already know that I have the pleasure of having G-Ted as a coworker and a good friend. It allows for us both to exchange ideas about different aspects of cycling such as trail work at Camp Ingawanis, different bikes that we work on or build, and of course the 26" wheeled mountain bike versus the 29" wheeled mountain bike. I have always ridden on 26" wheels during my off-road adventures w…

  • Ingawanis Trail Work

Went to Camp Ingawanis this morning with Kerkove to do a little preliminary trail work in preparation for some projects in the next few months. I received a ton of positive feedback from some of the other Iowa racers during the 24 Hours of Iowa held in Boone last weekend. Lots of people that enjoy this venue so we really want to make it a fun and challenging destination on the IMBCS calendar. Started off by …

  • Working for Mr. 24

I decided that I was not recovered enough from the previous 24 Hour of Afton to participate in the 24 Hours of Iowa which left me two choices. I could either head to Wisconsin with my mother for a annual reuinion with her family or I could help out with the pit area for Kerkove and his attempt at back-to-back 24 hour race weekends. Not one to miss out on possible …
