It starts May 13th at 12:01 am at the Slickrock parking lot and 142 miles later finishes in Loma. In fact it is reaching to call it a race. There is no entry fee or waiver to sign, you just show and go. Dave and I pre-rode the course last weekend. Taking two days to pre-ride a course is crazy too but was so, so worthwhile and a blast. We rode all of it in the daylight. The part during the race we will be riding in the dark is beautiful with huge and tremendous views. I'll be able to think of those views when I'm riding through that part now.
This is standing right at the top of Fisher Valley. We descend down there later. This is at 8,400 feet and it was dry and dusty. Not even a patch of snow lurking in the shade

Big views of the La Sals are all over the place.

I've never done a race like this before. Everything is seemingly laid back and unofficial but there are a stringent set of rules to follow. You don't get DQ'd I suppose but I've heard of folks being asked "not to come back"
.... Post to be continued but I have to go now and get the kids some breakfast - more later >>>
